Non-infectious Anterior Uveitis
- Uveitis is a third leading cause of blindness worldwide. The most common type of uveitis is an inflammation of the iris called iritis (anterior uveitis). Uveitis can damage vital eye tissue, leading to permanent vision loss.
- Uveitis is currently treated with corticosteroids eyedrops and injections that reduces inflammation. (2018 annual revenue in US was > $500 Mln) However, the long-term use of corticosteroids is a risk for cataract and glaucoma and requires close monitoring for side effects.
- Our focus is to suppress the inflammation associated with the uveitis using our anti-inflammatory lead compound OKYO-0101.
